My Favourite White Sandwich Bread

bread header

I have made a lot of white sandwich bread over the past few years. I haven’t bought a loaf of bread at a store in that time, so every sandwich we have eaten was made with homemade sandwich bread. I’ve tried a lot of recipes, with a variety of ingredients – milk, no milk, buttermilk, butter, oil, eggs and more. I thought all of them were good. Two years in though, I have to say, this recipe is my favourite and it has the simplest of ingredients. It has wonderful texture, it’s easy to make and toasts up just lovely.

This recipe comes from the good (yeast) folks at Fleischmann’s and is a great bread to try for new bread bakers. You can easily add in some whole wheat to this bread by replacing up to 2 cups of the white flour with whole wheat.

  3. Hello Vasundhara! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I enjoyed reading your blog. I am very much a novice myself, even though I’ve baked hundreds of loaves. I still have much to learn but I’m enjoying the journey :)

  4. Hi Jen,
Your Bread looks pretty. I am a novice baker from India and I own a copy of BBA, which a friend from the US sent me.
I have been trying to work my way through some of the recipes too. It feels amzing to know that there are people who have managed to bake such beautiful looking breads in their home kitches.
