NEWS! From etc.
When I started etc. back in 2002, it was really just for my reference - a place to keep links to web design and development resources. I never intended etc. to be of much interest to anyone else (hence why it lives in a sub/sub directory!). Back then, I was on a mission to teach myself HTML and CSS and learn to design and develop web sites. I'm pleased to say that, along the way, I actually did learn it :) But of course, the learning never ends. There is always something new,exciting or interesting to challenge us, so etc. has continued on. And since then, thousands of readers have followed along.

Two nice resources for WordPress users today ...

You can publish your own Cookbook or Photo Book (and more) with full colour and a hardcover and dustjacket for as low as $30 (less if you print more). And you only pay when you actually print a book. Be sure to check the shipping costs though, which will add another few bucks to your finished product. But still, for less than $40, you can memorialize your family recipes or author your own coffee table book!

TextPattern
After having a look at WordPress recently, I figured I might as well have a peek at TextPattern. I just have to say - it's a thing of beauty. Not for the faint of heart as there's a bit of a learning curve here, but the potential is obvious, even in this Gamma release. I can't wait to play with it some more. Textpattern: Download

dodgeit is a faux email address service, like mailinator, but rather that logging in to see if anyone sent you spam, you can just subscribe to an RSS feed for your fictitious@dodgeit.com address. I like it!

I just came across Blogpatrol and although I'm not looking for a stats program, I thought I'd post a link here anyway. I didn't read the fine print. Might be a nasty catch in there somewhere but it looks like fairly decent stats easy and free, if anyone is looking to add this to their weblog.
Opera 7
The newest version of the Opera browser - Opera 7 - is now available in beta. If you like to test your site on lots of browsers, it's worth the download. My own brief tour shows that some things have improved, but a lot still render differently from IE6, Mozilla, Netscape 7, Phoenix etc.
