FlyGuyDesigns Photoshop Brushes are really great quality, hi-res brushes. You can download one from each set for free but if you want the whole set, there is a small, very reasonable fee. Random Free Vectors - Part 12: Foliage II is another free, Photoshop brush from BittBox. 100 Awesome High Resolution Photoshop Brushes links up sources for some really nice Photoshop Brushes, complete with thumbnails to preview each brush. I've just recently discovered this blog - Epic Edits Weblog, but from what I've seen of it, it's a worthwhile bookmark for anyone interested in photography, with lots of useful information. Open Source offers some great alternative to commercial products, and website Open Source Tips has collected 40 great open source graphics programs - everything from CAD, to image management to drawing programs. PSDTuts has some nice tutorials, so might be worthwhile taking a peek at their tutorial list while you're there. Worth a read for anyone who spends time in Photoshop. Create A Vector Logo From A Bitmap Logo In Photoshop - a how-to video that shows how you can take a bitmap (jpeg, gif etc) logo and turn it in to a vector logo in Photoshop. Worth a look for anyone wanting to take their Photoshop skills up a notch. Some Photoshop fun from Photojojo, 11 Super Awesome Photoshop Movie Effects links up tutorials for making movie effect posters, such as Scarface, Sin City and Pirates of the Carribean. How to Paint as Bob Ross with Photoshop is a really fun tutorial that shows how to create a Bob Ross-like image in Photoshop. The tutorial uses a special Bob Brushset, which can be downloaded from the site. How to Design Mini Icons - is a great Photoshop tutorial showing in detail how to create mini icons. Free Photoshop Video Tutorilals - Clean Web 2.0 Template - a detailed, video tutorial showing how to make a clean, web 2.0-style web template using Adobe Photoshop CS3. The instructions should translate fairly well for earlier versions of Photoshop as well. How To Make A Photoshop Brush - BittBox has released some great Photoshop Brushes, so this "how to" comes from a great source and is certainly worth a read for anyone who would like to have a go at making their own Photoshop brushes. Over 10.000 Free Shapes for your Photoshop available for download at Mike's Quarter, who has decided to share photoshop shapes that he has been collecting for some time. It's a large download (37MB) but it looks like a great collection. A nice Photoshop Tutorial from Bartelme Design, Rays of Light. A really nice effect, useful and well demonstrated. How to turn your photo into movie-like effect using Photoshop - a good Photoshop tutorial that produces a nice effect. Website Deziner Folio is offering up another free download for Photoshop to aid creating trendy web 2-ish designs - Ultimate Web 2.0 Layer Styles. Comes complete with instructions for use and usage examples. If you've been wondering what's new in the just released Photoshop CS3 and whether it's worth the upgrade, check out The top 10 new things you can do with Photoshop CS3, a good article outlining the highlights of the newest Photoshop version. PhotoShop - Smoke Effect - a tutorial to make a cool smoke effect with just a couple of easy steps. Vector effects | Abduzeedo by design has a nice "how-to" mix a photo together with vector elements to create a really good looking design effect. GIMP Tutorials and useful snippets - a large (362) collection of useful GIMP tutorials and snippets. For anyone looking for an alternative to Photoshop and wanting to give GIMP a try, these tutorials offer an excellent starting point for learning how to create things with GIMP. Create wallpaper from your logo - a detailed photoshop tutorial that demonstrates how you can take your site's logo and create a nice looking desktop wallpaper. There are a number of ways to convert a color photo to black and white in Photoshop - convert to grayscale, simple desaturate or channel mixer. Another method that I haven't seen a lot of "how-to" information about though is using Calculations. I know a number of people consider this the best way to convert to black and white so I was happy to find this tutorial that shows how to do it. The Calculations Method - Photoshop Tutorials is really well done and walks through the process in good detail, explaining what to look for when making decisions along the way. The resulting photo from the tutorial certainly shows the improvement that can be achieved over grayscale conversion and this Calculations method is one that is worth adding to the Photoshop toolbox to experiment with. How Web 2.0 Logos are drawn? "Ever wonder how these guys draw their Web 2.0 Logos? Sometimes its nice to learn from others, build up the basic skills and start your own creativity from there. Gimparoo! is a new blog dedicated to taking Photoshop tutorials and adapting them for use with The Gimp. These tutorials assume a basic knowledge of GIMP tools but the author plans to add some GIMP beginner tutorials in the future. Some of the more recent tutorials include Making a Faux Lomo and Contrast Masking.
