Seven Layer Salad
Seven Layer Salad
ingredients
Lettuce, torn into bite sized pieces (or romaine or mixed salad greens)
1 cup celery, thinly sliced
1/2 cup green or red pepper, chopped
1/4 cup green onion, sliced
8-10 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 10oz package frozen green peas, thawed
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise (Kraft Real, Hellman's or light, as you like)
2 tsp. sugar
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
method
Place lettuce in bottom of large clear glass bowl to form a layer. Layer on the celery, then the green (or red) pepper, onions, bacon and then peas.
Combine the mayonnaise and sugar. Spread evenly over the peas, covering the top completely and sealing to edge of bowl. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 6 to 24 hours to blend flavours (longer is better).
Place on the table with layers intact then toss lightly before serving.
